Hadassah, Belly Dancer |

|
Hadassah is an award-winning certified professional oriental (or belly) dancer. Her hard work culminated in the recent award of "Outstanding Dancer (Female)" presented to her by Guiding Star Dance Foundation. She has performed in various venues in multiple states including private parties, parks, community and cultural festivals, an art exhibition, competitions, universities, and theaters.
Hadassah has taken workshops from international star Jasmin Jahal and world-reknowned Yousry Sharif (NY). She received certification from international stars Jasmin Jahal (Technique Level 1) and Sahra Saeeda (CA) in her Journey Through Egypt program (JtE Levels 1 and 2). This program teaches not only dance steps from the many folkloric dances of the country, but also the historical and cultural context of dance and the differences in styling between folkloric dancing, troupe productions, and Cairo's night club oriental scene. Mahmoud Reda (of Egypt's national Reda Troupe) and the late Ibrahim "Bobby" Farrah are major influences on her, as are these other stars with whom she has had the honor to study. She is fortunate to be a second generation dancer from these two legends through Jasmin Jahal and Sahra Saeeda. Locally, she studied Middle Eastern dance with several dancers but initially under Renea Bishop (PA), and was invited to join her dance troupe Shimmies in Motion after just two months of study because of Hadassah's acute ability to break down and learn moves and her dedication to practice. Her dedication and enthusiasm quickly launched her to the front of her first dance group and into competitions. Hadassah has studied Indian dance styles through Guiding Star Dance Foundation and debuted in their hit theatrical production "Living in America". She is honored to remain Guiding Star Dance Foundation's Dance Captain. Hadassah's dance experience began with baton twirling, where she became head majorette in college, choreographing and performing solo and duet routines to live band music. She later studied international ballroom dancing, where she was particularly fond of the Latin dances and the tango. She also has taken workshops and classes in various other dance styles such as ballet and tap to broaden her dance exposure and experience and trained in modeling. In addition to her dance background, Hadassah is a frequent writer for the Middle Eastern dance magazine Zaghareet!. Hadassah loves to perform and will gladly customize a performance to your preferences. She performs solo or collaboratively with other artists. In the realm of instruction, Hadassah enjoys teaching beginner students who have no or very little knowledge of dance and watching them explore, develop, and experience the joys of dance for the first time. |
